To all future politicians: A famous US political commentator described politicians as "A politician is an arse (ass) upon which everybody sits except the man."

Being a politician is not a real glamour job. Your job is to represent your constituents no matter which way you think they voted. That means when constituents come to you with a problem you do what you are there to do. You take on their concerns, worries and issues to the best of your ability and with drive. Your job for the next 3 or 4 years depending which level of politics you inhabit is to represent all issues that emanate from your electorate.

You don't moralise, judge, consider or really argue the merits of any issue other than how to best present it to the relevant authorities for resolution.

You don’t stop representing that issues until the originators of the issue tell you to. You represent that issue with vehemence, enthusiasm, vigour, commitment and whole body and soul without being reminded. You call meetings to inform and at those meetings you bring relevant decision makers so your constituents can ask for themselves and find out what’s happening with their issue.

You don’t just go through the motions just to be seen that you are doing something.

It’s important that you listen to your party and its policies but your electorate comes first. Their issues are your issues, their worries are your worries and their concerns are your concerns. You don’t measure one group of residents' issues' value by what another group of residents say. Their views are opinions not guidelines for your future attitudes.

Road noise  is a major major issue for the residents that live alongside the M1 and that should be enough to spur all the politicians who claim to represent us. 

SO GET OFF YOUR ARSES AND TALK, PRESSURE, CAJOLE AND BEG DECISION MAKERS TO FIX ALL THAT AILS EVERY ISSUE IN YOUR ELECTORATE.
